Scott’s Story

Site created on October 11, 2018

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Wednesday, October 10 Scott had a very serious asthma attack.  He was taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital by ambulance.  The treatment he received in the ambulance only helped for a few minutes and when he arrived at the ER his  breathing issues got more severe.  The doctors tried multiple medications to help end the attack, but each time it only worked for a few minutes.  As time went on the attack got worse and they got to the point that the only option was to place him on a ventilator.  Scott was sedated and a breathing tube was placed.  We were very lucky that they were able to open his lungs with the tube as sometimes even that fails.  Because he was fighting the breathing tube it was required to give him even a stronger medication that paralyzes the body so that the ventilator can breath for him.

Please keep Scott in you prayers as he is not out of the woods and recovery will be slow and may take weeks.

THANK YOU for all the support we have received!  You have no idea how much it means to us!

Newest Update

Journal entry by Anne Kelly

What a wonderful day.  At 2:30 pm Scott finally was discharged from FMH!  It was nice that after 15 days he got to see the sun and feel the wind!  What a beautiful day.  After filling several Rx and picking up a large steak and cheese from Stavin Marvin we headed home.  He enjoyed spending time with Tommy and ate a large bowl of mac and cheese.  Its about time to see him eat!  Tomorrow starts the regimen of more doctor's appointments and arranging PT.

From the bottom of our hearts we want to thank everyone for all their support and prayers!  We couldn't have done it without you!  We will continue with these updates until life gets back to normal....I can't wait!!!!
