Journal entry by Amanda Gowen —
Scott's first chemo treatment was Wednesday the 8th, it ran until Friday afternoon. he is receiving "FOLFOX" its a combination chemotherapy that actually targets colon cancer. At this time there is NO chemo for esophageal cancer.
He handled it the best as one can handle chemo. Friday and Saturday he was pretty out of it, tired, nauseated, and having a lot of cold sensitivity. We all know chemo is an accumulative effect though so we shall see how it continues to go.
This Wednesday he gets his port placed and then on Friday he see his radiation dr to start that process as well. he will be hit with radiation and chemo at the same time. radiation will be every day for 3-6 weeks. so far next chemo treatment is the 22nd, we assume radiation will start the 20th. i will continue to try and keep everyone posted as time goes on. Right now its a waiting game, waiting for that 3 month scan to see if any of this is working.
