Hey guys - for those of you still tuning into Scotts story, I thought I’d give you an update. Here we are 1 week post hospital and doing well. We are definitely counting our blessings. We know that there are others who have not had the positive outcome we’ve had. Don’t get me wrong, Scott is not back to 100%, but he’s expected to get there and he’s improving daily. When we first got home Scott struggled to walk from one room to the other without getting winded and needing a break. Yesterday he and I took a nice stroll around our house - taking our time. We went about 1 mile and he did great. Today he walked a little further. His breathing has improved, but it definitely takes it out of him and wears him out.

The doctor told Scott he’s the poster child for the ECMO machine. The ECMO is what likely saved his life and will allow him to eventually get back to his normal routine and workout schedule. It’s also going to give him a gnarly scar, but he will wear it as a badge of honor and reminder just how precious life is.

From all of this Scott is hoping that good will come from his experience. Oddly enough, we were contacted by 2 news stations this last week, asking us to tell Scott’s story. This felt like the right opportunity to spread the word about what happened. Our hope is to raise awareness about the severity of the flu and importance of paying attention to the signs and symptoms, but also to try and prevent getting the flu in the first place - through proper hygiene, staying home when sick, covering coughs and getting the flu shot.

Thank you again to everyone who has been praying for Scott and for our family. I truly believe the prayers we received, as well as, the amazing medical team at Seton Main are why why Scott is home with us now. I also want to thank everyone who donated to our GoFundMe page. We are beyond speechless at the generosity and kindness of so many. This certainly relieves a lot of stress during this difficult time. From the bottom of our hearts - THANK YOU!

I haven’t taken any pictures of Scott this week, but I did catch a beautiful sunset and we sat on the back porch and  enjoyed it together.
