Hello To Our Friends and Family;

I sit here beside Dyan, at home in our own bed, healing up and watching "The Voice" finals.  Dyan  was discharged from Carle yesterday at about noon. She is SO glad to be home.  Dyan and I want you all to know how very thankful we are for the many prayers, well wishes, donations of all kinds, and gestures of kindness that we received over the past 28 days.  As I have said before, its difficult for us to put into words how grateful we are for everything that so many of our friends, family, friends of our daughters and even strangers have done for us.  I have said several times over the past few weeks, these serious accidents, injuries and illnesses happen to families every day.  We see it on the news every night; we know our doctors and nurses at Carle take care of seriously injured or ill patients everyday, but it never happens to you...……until it does.  An experience like this really brings life into perspective and how precious every single day is.  We feel extremely fortunate and blessed to be able to continue Dyan's rehabilitation here at home and to have the chance to truly get back to normal and experience an active and exciting life going forward.

Tonight, I think of and will pray for a couple of the families that I met in the Critical Care Unit at Carle; families who are also experiencing very difficult and in some cases, potentially life changing circumstances.  Dyan and I both pray for God's grace on these families and for positive outcomes for each of them.

This will be our final journal update on Caring Bridge.  I am pleased to report that I am down to an Ibuprofen or two per day to calm the minor ribcage discomfort that persists.  Dyan's serious injuries are well on their way to full recoveries and the many broken bones that she has are also healing.  In time, we believe she will make a full recovery with no long term consequences.  The next couple months for Dyan will be spent resting, healing and eventually, taking physical therapy and exercising which should result in life as she knew it prior to our April 24th accident.  We thank God for the good fortune and blessings that He bestowed upon us.  He clearly has a plan for us going forward and we look forward to seeing where that leads and to live that plan as best we can.

Finally, we thank our doctors and nurses at Carle for really top notch, professional care.  You impressed us everyday.  A few of our friends and family members have gone above and beyond in a variety of ways; you know who you are and we can't thank you enough. Thank you Breanne and Rachel for dropping everything and getting home so quickly to make that first week so much easier on both of us.  We love you guys more than you can ever imagine.  We are so glad to be home and on the road to recovery.

God Bless Our Friends and Family!!

Scott and Dyan
