Scott’s Story

Site created on September 3, 2022

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. To catch up: In July 2022, Scott was told he will need a pacemaker (he was excited because he has been feeling foggy and lethargic lately - doc says the pacemaker could address that). That was originally scheduled for 8/29, but before he could have the surgery, he developed some swelling in his face and neck. After weeks of testing and a biopsy of what turned out to be a 4x4x4 mass, he was diagnosed with Squamish Cell Carcinoma. He recieved 8 weeks of treatment - chemo and radiation simultaneously - and ended up coming out of a week long hospital stay in November with a PEG tube.

He has since had an uphill battle to recover from the treatment, which weakened him greatly, and find a solution for the nerve pain that has taken over his left arm. The cancer seems to be "behaving" (in the words of one doctor) for now, but we have a follow up CT scan scheduled for May to check on the mass.

We will post updates with care plans and more information as we get it. In the meantime, thank you for your prayers and well wishes. Anyone who knows Scott knows that he has never let any medical issues get him down, and he is approaching this new diagnosis with the same positive attitude he always has. ♡ Caitlin
