I happened to have a conversation recently with a co-worker about my journey, the generosity of friends and family, the treatments I am currently scheduled for, and treatments I desire. I just started my second week of radiation; I'm scheduled for 33 treatments. That is treatment Monday through Friday for 5.5 weeks. During this conversation the alternative therapies I wish I could explore were discussed (high dose IV vitamin C therapy, ozone therapy...), since I am not doing chemotherapy. These natural, alternative therapies are done in other countries with great success, but it is difficult to find treatment centers in the US, and when you do they are costly and insurance doesn't cover a single penny. My kiddos see a holistic, homeopathic pediatric nurse practitioner (we will call her CP), a believer in these alternative therapies, and an all round generous, loving, and helpful person (everything you want in a pediatric healthcare provider!). During Amelia's last well visit her and I discussed treatment options, and my barriers to these homeopathic alternative therapies. She spent the appointment trying to strategize and brainstorm ways I could accomplish receiving these treatments. She mentioned starting a GoFundMe page and contacting a local practice that provides these alternative therapies for me to see what kind of deal they would work out. I immediately dismissed the idea of asking for monetary donations. 

This is what brought the conversation I had with a dear co-worker to the topic of divine connections. Whether you believe in a God, angels, spirit guides, or simply fate, divine connections are people or opportunities strategically placed in your life for a reason or a season. It isn't accidental or coincidental. 

Over the last decade or so, I have had many divine connections. My journey through fetal loss, pregnancy complications, births, my decision to go back to school, getting accepted into school, meeting CP, my job, friends, and then my journey through breast cancer has all been divinely connected. 

My dear co-worker pointed out that the offer to start a GoFundMe to achieve the alternative therapies I need and desire was a divine connection and I was saying no to a blessing CP wanted to gift. As divine intervention/connection seems to happen, I got a phone call the next day from CP. She had spoken with the practice that does the alternative therapies and she got an estimate of treatment costs. She also mentioned the fundraiser again, and this time I agreed.

I have to thank everyone who is following my story and in my life. I have been lifted up and supported more than ever at a time I've needed it most. I've talked openly about my fetal loss and it has helped others talk about theirs. I hope me being open about my breast cancer can help other women going through the same experience.
