Journal entry by Mike Russell —
Hello friends and family,
Just want to give an update on Sarah since it's been over three months since my last.
Monday was the one year anniversary of Sarah's heart transplant. Her one year check up was more involved, more invasive, more thorough than her previous biopsies and bloodwork. It involved putting her under and running a scope up the artery in her groin and checking out all vessels and valves in her heart. In addition to the regular biopsy, they did a deeper tissue biopsy.
By Monday night we had the results back on MyChart and from what we could tell, everything looked good or normal. Tuesday her transplant coordinator called and was very happy with all the test results, which has been pretty normal lately.
Then her transplant coordinator called again late this afternoon and all the good feels were gone. Apparently the results from the added test came back today and some elevated levels on something that I can't explain, have them concerned because it can be a sign or precursor to rejection.
The plan is to make adjustment to her meds and head off any possible rejection before it happens.
Kind of a downer after months of doing so well.
We'll keep doing what the doctors want and keep praying.
Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers.
