Sarah’s Story

Site created on July 1, 2020

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
Hello All, WELCOME! This a site for all of those who know and love Sarah. You can come here to get the latest information and help when our friend when she needs it the most. Please feel free to check at any time for updates, leave positive words of support and encouragement. Also, be sure to mention great times shared to help cheer Sarah on during this time in her life, just as we have known and seen Sarah (and her big heart) to do for us and others! Sarah is the first to say, that it is hard for her to ask for help- so I say, she does not need to ask - we all can group together to help in big or small ways to make it easier on both Sarah and Dave. We just want Sarah to know, She is not alone in this fight with Multiple Myeloma. And we thank you advance for your wonderful words, thoughts, prayers and actions throughout Sarah's back-to-health journey! 👍😁
In this site there is a link to her Go-fund-me site, with the hardships of this diagnosis and in conjunction, the pandemic taking a financial toll on them. Sarah and Dave have both been out of work. Not to mention, all the costs incurred in testings, prescriptions and treatments and etc. - So, if you haven't already please check out that site! There is a link to her go fund me site, in ways to help.
Also, through Caring bridge we will have sign-ups for contactless meals, light housework (possibly while Sarah is at appts to avoid potential contact- her safety is our upmost concern), some yard work for those who enjoy it- and possibly errand help. Check back when you can to lend a helping hand- again when we all put forth an effort, for as little, or as much time as our schedules/hearts allow, we will find it makes a difference. Though, she is going through chemotherapy, right now and there are currently some bad days...
August is when she and Dave are foreseeing utilizing the most help from us, that is when Sarah's stem cell therapy will begin. Though, I went ahead and scheduled a once a week meal until Aug-just to give them a tiny bit of a break. Please feel free to sign up!
THANK YOU!
PS I am also looking for pics to pop up on this site- I did not want to bother the Postles for these, they are focusing on bigger things. If you have some great snaps of Sarah, please send them my way and we can throw them up on this site for others to enjoy ❤️... THANKS AGAIN!!

Newest Update

Journal entry by Sarah Postle

What a year it's been for everyone, wowza! I've really missed seeing you all and being part of your fitness goals not to mention, just interacting and chatting.

Obviously life took a pretty major turn for me back in April of last year with this pesky Multi Myeloma diagnosis but, I continue to remain positive and stay active as best as possible. Some days are more challenging than others both physically and very definitely mentally. On those days I have to catch myself and be thankful for the specialists at KU Med who have taken me to a place of remission. I was at the KU cancer center this morning and I swear my consultation room sounded like a pack of hyenas as we were laughing so much about silly stuff. I hope this brings joy to other patients who hear this and feel the hope radiating out from an otherwise solemn place.

It's with mixed emotions that I share information of the next chapter of my life with you.

Dave and I will be moving to Grand Junction, Colorado this month and begin our new adventures there.  This is both exciting and sad for me as I've truly enjoyed the last 23 years living in Olathe and particularly getting to know so many wonderful people,  all of you included. Working with  you all has been a true pleasure and honor for me, definitely a dream job that has brought me so much pride. I cannot begin to thank you all so very much for your continued support not just during my cancer journey but throughout my career at HealthRidge and Genesis. You have been a guiding light that has kept me sane, (well, that may be pushing it!!!), determined and strong during some of the most challenging times in my life. You will never truly understand the full impact you've all had.  I will take so many fond memories with me to Colorado and promise to keep you all part of my journey with pictures and updates.

Love to you all.

Sarah

What a year!  For so many years Sarah and I have supported each other through thick and thin with Sarah always giving more than she gets.  Myself I'm a private person, like to think I'm self reliant.  Then we learned we needed to wrestle an octopus, nasty SOB at that.  I was overwhelmed. Funny, I always knew that Sarah was a wonderful person but what I didn't expect was the thundering response from those she touched in her life.  So many helpful hands reached out it made it easy for me to focus on the most important things for Sarah.   I've learned so much over the past year, medicine, science, human resolve, compassion, friendship and love.

Thank you so much to all of you for being bright lights in Sarah's life, it makes a difference.

Dave
