Journal entry by Cathy Abarno —
After 2 weeks at Children’s Hospital, Hayden gets to go home!!! He will have a long road to recovery with home healthcare, a daily regimine of antibiotics, he currently has a PICC line, he will need PT 1-3x a week and will need to wear his helmet anytime he’s out of bed until his next surgery to get his custom titanium plate put in. Surgery is tentative for the first week of January.
He currently has a fluid build up on the left side of his brain (in the lining), where he is missing his bone flap, which they are going to treat with antibiotics and then he will have another appointment next week with the Infectious Disease Doctor to address that. He also has a bit of fluid build up in his sinuses.
Other that that, Hayden is doing really well! When we first got here, we didn’t know when Hayden would be able to walk again, but he is able to walk now by himself! He is still dealing with nausea and working on getting his appetite back to normal. We are SO PROUD of everything he has accomplished while he was in the hospital!
Thank you again for all your support and prayers! Our family truly appreciates it!
