No words can express how happy I am to be done with my first round of chemo. Wednesday was the last dose of AC or also known as the Red Devil. In the past 8 weeks while being on this chemo the worse side effect for me has been the exhaustion, there were times I was in bed for days so my body could rest, I felt like I was missing out on so much because of it. I was in a constant haze of exhaustion and trying to function daily was very difficult. The other side effects were, lucky for me very minimal compared to the exhaustion, I had very little nausea that was easily cured with peppermint vapor oil. But, even though yesterday was my last dose of AC I still have another week of my side effects but, this is my last week of them!

The day after Christmas I will start my next round of chemo of Taxol, a very low dose for the next 12 weeks, my doctor said that my side effects should be minimal because besides the exhaustion I had no other major side effects from AC. I will also be meeting with a breast surgeon soon to go over what type of surgery I will be having after I’m done with chemo.

I will never forgot the day or the time when I heard the words “Sarah you have breast cancer.” The first thing that went through my mind is “I’m not ready to die” my response to the doctor was “What do I need to do to beat this?” I never fathom what I would be going through just so I can live longer and so I can be around for my daughters.

This little accomplishment of completing my first round of chemo has really lifted my spirits. Hopefully now I can start functioning better and getting out instead of always being in bed.
