Welcome to Sandra's CaringBridge website, updated by her daughter, Jodie. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Sandra has been diagnosed with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), a degenerative nerve condition for which there is no treatment.  She takes a medication for Parkinson's disease which currently helps lessen her symptoms.  She is in a nursing facility in Bigfork where she is getting really great care and working hard in physical therapy.  PSP affects many areas of the body and has similarities to (as is often diagnosed as) Parkinson's and Alzheimers,  but it is it's own very particular disease.  More information can be found at https://www.epda.eu.com/about-parkinsons/types/progressive-supranuclear-palsy-psp/   or  https://www.psp.org/iwanttolearn/faq/

Thank you for the outpouring of support you've been sending to Mom.  Keep it up, it makes a big difference in her days.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Jodie Coston

Due to urgent restrictions caused by the Covid-19, Sandy is now confined to her room with her roommate.  Patients have meals in their rooms, are not allowed into the dining room, she's not allowed to take physical therapy at this point, not allowed to enter the hallways of the facility.

As things are changing quickly from day to day, we have no idea how long this will last.

Sandy is still her usual cheerful self but could actually use some cards and letters or phone calls to keep her spirits up.  Thanks to everyone for their thoughts and prayers.  She is sending them back out to all of you.
Patients and caregivers love hearing from you; add a comment to show your support.
