So you know the saying "sick and tired"? I think the best way to summarize how Sandy is feeling is to simply say, she is sick and tired, of feeling sick and tired.

I believe our last post was Sandy coming home after a 4 night stay in the hospital. Well since that time, our family  visited our daughter in Rome, visited Germany, we came home on the 26th,  started radiation two days later on the 28th, spent last Saturday in the ER (8 Hours), diagnosed with pneumonia.

So to say the past 45 days have been eventful, is simply an understatement. The daily radiation is definitely taking a toll. The pneumonia seems to be getting a little better but the congestion, nasty cough, and sore throat is very real. The fatigue from the radiation also is very real.

Everyday Sandy gets up, puts on a brave face to the world, and does her best to put everyone else first. Just as she has always done. When i hear her friends ask how she is feeling she responds, "fine" Everything is fine. Most recently, the school district she works (Brunswick) recognized her at the Board Meeting for everything she does, her hard work, and for her selfless acts. I sat there as she received her award, and was amazed. To receive this award from the school district is an honor. If the Board, and the others in attendance that night only knew the sacrifices she makes everyday they too would be amazed.

The radiation treatments should end sometime in mid to late December. We both look forward to that day.

To our friends and family that have visited, helped us, prayed for her, thank you. A special thank you to her coworkers at Towslee Elementary and Medina ECS. This group of co workers are beyond believable. There has not been a week go by where this group hasn't done something special for Sandy that is memorable. Based on this things they have done, the way they treat her, the love they have shown Sandy I would think they have known her for 20 years. Just like the night she received her award, I am amazed. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for recognizing in such a short time frame what I recognized over 30 years ago. Sandy is special.

As the holidays approach please spend time to visit family. Call, or better yet visit those people you may have lost touch with, had a falling out, or simply haven't spoken to for one reason or the other for some time. Put down your phone, leave your computer sitting on the shelf. A text message, or email will never  replace a conversation. A few minutes of the time invested today, will have a lasting impact on those that you care most about. Who knows, it might be the last time you have an opportunity to tell them how much you love them.

So enough soapbox talk for me. I will update if there is other news, or once she is done with treatment, We are both looking forward to the last treatment, and the road to recovery. Its been a long and courageous battle. A battle that we both fully expect to be victorious. Who knows, maybe we will throw a 2020 is going to be a great year party on New Years Eve.
