Journal entry by Katie Morris

Tomorrow is our sweet boy's 3rd birthday. We are remembering him fondly and doing our best to continue moving forward. This time of year is always a little harder, but we are so thankful for the support of family, friends, and especially each other.

What does moving forward look like for us right now? We are in the final stages of testing to see what Bennett's official diagnosis was. It has been a long hard process for many reasons that I can't describe fully in detail. Finding the reason for Bennett's short life has been much more complicated than we could have anticipated and we are so thankful to be in what we hope to be the final weeks/months of it.

Today (September 17th) Scott and I went to a geneticist to sign offical papers to get some final testing done. This testing should be finished within 6-8 weeks (we hope.) We hope this testing will help us move forward and decide how to continue our family.

What are we hoping to find out? The short answer is how likely is it that a condition like this could occur in another pregnancy, ad are we willing to take that risk. We will know more information about that when the testing is complete.

How can you support us/help? Your thoughts, prayers, and kind words are the best thing. Talking to us and asking us about Bennett helps us remember that he was an actual human and had an important life. Not talking about him is much worse. If you are wondering if you should ask... the answer is always yes!

Another more sepcific way you can help - this testing, as you can imagine, is not cheap. If you find it financially possible to donate anything to our cause we would be beyond grateful. I will be posting a link on this site. Any money we get that will not go to testing or further family planning will be donated to research to help families in similar situations as ours.
