On September 27, Sam was in Georgia working a parade of homes when he became ill. That night he went to the ER at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper, GA and tested positive for COVID-19. He was admitted and within a few days seemed well enough to be release. His wife, Travonda, had made the long drive and was there to pick him up on September 30th. They decided to quarantine in the mountains for a few days, but by the next night he was feeling terrible and went back to the hospital. He was readmitted on October 1st and on the 6th he had to be intubated and put on a ventilator. He has dealt with COVID, 2 pneumonias, a bacterial infection, loss of kidney function, and numerous setbacks. My sweet Mom was not allowed to be with him until recently. The Lord has answered every prayer we have asked him for. On October 26th, after passing numerous breathing tests and improved kidney function, they removed him from the ventilator. Due to labored breathing he was again intubated on October 29th. The doctor did a bronchoscope and discovered one lung was partially blocked off and the other completely blocked with mucus plugs. Dr. H was able to suction it all out. We are praying that was the only issue he was battling. As of today (October 30) he remains on the ventilator so his lungs can rest and the doctors can continue to monitor his lungs. My dad is a tough man, he WILL get through this. Up until he was intubated, he told me so many times, “Baby, there is nothing to worry about. God will take care of me”. Through all the ups and downs, God has been with my dad as well as all of us. He is the miracle worker and I strongly believe He has more for my dad to do in this world. Please ask our amazing God to fully heal him and bring him back home to us.
