Sammi’s Story

Site created on November 20, 2023

Welcome to Sammi's CaringBridge website - we can't express how thankful we are for everyone's the love and support of Sammi and her family as they conquer this journey.
We hope in sharing Sammi's story, that it can provide encouragement, inspiration and strength to others, as no one should face a disease alone.

Here, family and friends can receive updates and share words of hope in one place.

"Difficult roads can lead to beautiful destinations"

On Thursday, November 9th, Sammi was diagnosed with Breast Cancer contained to her left breast. A biopsy was taken to determine the stage and grade of the tumors. The results from the biopsy confirmed that she had Stage 1A Invasive Ductile Carcinoma with Grade 2 tumors contained to her left breast with no lymph node or vascular complications. A follow up MRI was scheduled to conclude the above diagnosis to prepare Sammi for her first visit with her new team.
Sammi was referred to Dr. Amanda Kong with the Breast Care Cancer at Froedtert by a close friend who has gone through this unfortunate situation.
Sammi's first appointment with her new team is Tuesday, November 21st.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Megan Drews

3rd Time went as smooth as the first two.  Sammi is getting more used to the drill and killing the 3 plus hours of time between start to finish with these treatments.
Side effects have remained the same - slight nausea, taste non-existent and overall fatigue.  But a bright spot remains that there is no more hair loss now that she shaved everything off!
However, you don't realize how much heat your hair traps in until you lose it all!

Another bright spot after Chemo on Tuesday was the Baptism of little Mila.  Sammi powered through the baptism and a small family gathering afterwards to celebrate Mila and her journey with the church.
All the blessings!
