Journal entry by Ken Smith —
That’s Sam’s Thanksgiving dinner served on a hospital tray. He’s been hospital-free since mid-October, earlier this week he was re-admitted with a high fever. Yesterday he underwent another endoscopic procedure to reduce the infected area and replace a stent. They determined his pancreas had healed sufficiently to allow the removal of his drainage tube and bag. The removal of that drain is a major step forward. With luck, he’ll leave the hospital tomorrow—another reason to give thanks this week.
