Samantha’s Story

Site created on July 6, 2020

Samantha Namiot fell down some stairs on 4 July  and fractured her skull, bruised her brain, and has bleeding on the brain.  She spent 6 weeks hospitalized and is now in her intensive outpatient rehabilitation at  Craig Hospital.

So much good news to share!!

Samantha is complete with her outpatient rehabilitation and was cleared yesterday to start work.  She’ll initially go back for a few hours for the first weeks and then up the hours based on how she’s feeling.

Sam has also been medically cleared to begin driving and will take her driving exam in early December.

Her outpatient rehab has been amazing- she’s been driving in the vehicle simulator; she worked twice in the cafeteria taking orders and making sandwiches (She did so well the manager bought her lunch); she gave a 15 minute presentation (her subject was art) and her inpatient speech therapist was present and was blown away by Sam’s ability to clearly articulate her points, stay on track, and meet the timeline.  (Note:  her inpatient speech therapist hasn’t seen Sam since she was released from inpatient so it’s been about 8 weeks).

Sam celebrated her 21st birthday in early October- not exactly how she imagined it, but we were thankful we could celebrate it as a family and know how truly blessed we are with her recovery!

Thanks for everyone’s continued love and support!  She would not have been able make the progress without it! -jrv
