Sally’s Story

Site created on April 26, 2021

Hi there. On March 19th, 2021. I was diagnosed with MDS q5. This is a blood cancer that starts in my bone marrow. I was referred to a Hematologist after my regular doctor found a blood smear of my red blood cells was not looking good. My symptoms were fatigue, off balance, easy bruising and infections that would not go away.  So after a bone biopsy at the Mayo Cancer Clinic in Eau Claire I was diagnosed. The good news is that there is pill form chemo that I take for 21 days then rest for 7 days. I will need to take this medication for the rest of my life because the cancer will not go away it will only go in remission. So I am on my first month of my journey. Multiple side effects.  I am taking each day as one day at a time.
I wasn’t sure if I should do a CaringBridge site or not. One of my dear friends that had experienced Cancer said to tell everyone you know and ask for prayers. So here I am asking for prayers and positive thoughts.
Thank you all. I will share my experiences and results as I go through this journey and I am happy that you might want to go with me.

Hey all!  Good news for once!!!
Dear Mrs. Lane,
Good news! Your right breast biopsy is negative. All the findings are benign. No further evaluation is needed for this. Recommend continued annual screening mammogram. Let me know if you have any further questions.
Thank you
Dr. K

Thanks so much for the prayers.
