Sally’s Story

Site created on September 28, 2022

Welcome to Sally's Squad! So excited to share all of mom's activities and have a place to attempt to coordinate rides for mom in an easy to access way.  Mom is enjoying life and hopefully this page will help those who support her, enjoy life more as well.  Since mom has a very active social life, it has been tricky for family and friends to know when a ride is needed, who is taking her to a specific activity and just when and where are these activities and most importantly Where is Sally on any given day! I decided to set up this page to help with those issues.  Many are familiar with this platform and the planner/calendar section is new, so I thought this might be a great way to coordinate all the rides that mom's friends so willing offer to give.

Journal entry by Colleen Markman

Mom has sure come a long way since Nov 14 when this ordeal started! She got released from 24 hour care and from home health!

She is loving her TWO new recliner chairs. She can recline them with no additional help and they are better fit to her body. She is able to sit up better than in the large ones. Thank you all who donated! They were on back order and finally arrived in early January! Kudos to Kevin who went and picked them up to save us on delivery charges!

Today mom started her cardiac rehab class. It's Monday, Wednesday and Friday for 90 minutes! Exercise, on Monday and Friday, is supervised and tailored to her needs and she's constantly being monitored. Wednesday are the cooking classes using heart healthy food and include taste testing. Hopefully I can get some additional recipes mom will eat so that I can expand the variety of meals I prepare for her.

Mom is free to go places when she chooses, but for now she is not ready to start back to church or quilting. She still is concerned about the crowds but I think mostly it's the cold she doesn't like! As soon as she is ready to start back with those I'll be contacting friends to sign up to drive!
