Journal entry by Eva Wolverton

I got this picture tonight from Sage (left). It made me so happy to see him connect with this man on his right. It’s a really long story, but my dad had a sister who is long gone from this planet. Many years ago she put her mark on Hawaii when she married a local. Her descendants are many, but us mainlanders don’t know them very well. So so many we’ve never met.

This guy on the right is my dad’s Facebook friend. The son of a woman who I think is possibly the daughter of my auntie.  But honestly I’m not sure and I don’t even know his name. One thing this Hawaiian culture does is much like our Chaplaincy - the beautiful concept of Ohana. We’re family. No matter where we are or how we wound up together in this big tangle....we are family.

This man drove out to Sage and brought him groceries.

My heart sings.

And I’m writing this because I know the love of my friends. You’re standing by, waiting for the word. What can you do?

Here is what I want from you right now. Write a note here. Check in. Let us know who is watching. I’m loving your encouragement. Thank you!
