Rylee’s Story

Site created on January 2, 2022

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and prayers. Thank you for visiting.

December 19th, Josh took our 15 year old daughter, Rylee, to the ER with signs of appendicitis. Her appendix turned out to be clear but the CT scan revealed a large mass on her kidney, smaller masses in her kidney, and a mass in her abdomen. After staying in the hospital four days it was determined she has a type of renal (kidney) cancer. They came back home Thursday and we have a follow up appointment with her oncologist tomorrow. She will need surgery in January to remove the masses and her kidney.

Hollie is also full term with Felicity and could go into labor at anytime, so we are praying the Lord will coordinate the labor, the surgery, recovery, etc. to all work together well.

We covet your prayers as we navigate this new journey the Lord has us on.

Thank you so much to those of you that have been praying. It’s such a comfort to us and Rylee to know how many saints are standing with us in prayer ♥️

Newest Update

Journal entry by Hollie Dermer

Hi, friends! I wanted to write you all with another update on Rylee. She continues to have infusions of the immunotherapy drug every three weeks with her next one scheduled for Tuesday. We are thankful that her side effects are mostly managed with medications (Tylenol daily, Zofran daily, and a nerve pain drug three times a day). She continues to help out a friend's farm three days a week. Milking and tending the cows has become a favourite past time of hers.

Friday she will have her first PET scan. This scan will reveal any remaining cancer cells in her body. We are praying for a scan that reveals no cancer and would ask you to join us in that. Once we have the results I will update as soon as I can. Thank you all for your prayers. The Lord hears them.

“The Lord is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works. The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth. He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them. The Lord preserveth all them that love him: but all the wicked will he destroy. My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord: and let all flesh bless his holy name for ever and ever.”
~Psalm 145:17:21

“He is very ready to hear and answer the prayers of his people. He is present every where; but in a special way he is nigh to them, as he is not to others. He is in their hearts, and dwells there by faith, and they dwell in him. He is nigh to those that call upon him, to help them in all times of need. He will be nigh to them, that they may have what they ask, and find what they seek, if they call upon him in truth and sincerity. And having taught men to love his name and holy ways, he will save them from the destruction of the wicked. May we then love his name, and walk in his ways, while we desire that all flesh should bless his holy name for ever and ever.”
~Matthew Henry, commentary on Psalm 145
