Journal entry by Sarah Wrather —
We didn’t get much chance to update on here. Ryan went home much quicker than we anticipated. We are so thankful for our intentional days with him, knowing our time was limited. In these last weeks there were many conversations on how he wanted his last days to be pointing to the glory of Christ. Ryan kept such a positive attitude with his usual wit and humor as he was in more pain than he was letting on. He shared with numerous people his hope in Christ and how he was confident that he was going to spend eternity with his savior. Friends were touched that he still wanted to know how THEY were doing. His family will remember the little reminders he wanted to give them, mostly loving and serving each other like Christ. He also made sure to embarrass his family with shenanigans. The most memorable (or according to Bella “terrifying”) the showing off his manper (man diaper). The family enjoyed their last hours with Ryan on Sunday. They said good-bye this morning at 3am after reciting scripture, singing, and praying with friends and family. Ryan will be greatly missed by all, but we have great joy in knowing he is “healed” and will have no more pain forever!
