Hey friends!

This may be hard to believe, but we have continued to witness miracle after miracle in the Nixon home over the last 2 weeks, and we are completely and utterly awestruck by our awesome and great God!

This weekend, I got to share about the amazing work God has done with our local church body. So many of them have prayed to the Lord on our behalf, and it was sweet to share with them the ways the Lord has heard their prayers. Our church is in the middle of a 21 day prayer and fasting together as a body, which could not come at a more perfect time.

Ryan went to his concussion clinic today for follow up on his injury. The PA kept saying things as she did tests on balance, eye focus (to check potential nerve damage in his brain), and memory function. She kept saying things like ‘wow this is better than I thought he would be doing….ok wow, I’m impressed…’ I finally just got to share with her the way our community came together and prayed over him, and that I believe we had witnessed a miracle in his life and on his brain. She was SHOCKED at how well he is doing, and almost speechless a few times. She released him into what they call Phase 2 of recovery, which included releasing him to walk un-assissted!

Then, just to double check, we had my friend who is an occupational therapist who specializes in brain trauma come over today - I sent her all of Ryan’s MRI results, and after consulting with a neuro-phsychologist, she came over and tested him. Test after test, she was amazed. And at the end, she literally said, ‘The boy I’m talking to here, and the results I see on this MRI just DO NOT match up. It makes no sense form his charts that he would be doing this well. This is a miracle.’  We agree! How is doing just does not match up with what the scan showed of his brain just a little over 1 short week ago.

We are floored that this is just such evidence of the mighty working of God doing a miracle in his life. We can’t wait to see the special plans he has for this boy!

Ryan has been approved to start coming back to school during this second phase, so today we started what we think will be a stair step return to eventually a full day of school

Our plan:
* Try the next few days Ryan attending school starting for 3 hours
* Asking teachers if they detect any sensitivity from Ryan to loud situations or any major loss of coordination. (He has not yet shown any of these symptoms, but the doctors told us to have you watch because he will be in a more stimulating situation.)
* Watch for him getting overwhelmed, irritable, or overly emotional, due to the part of his brain injured that affects the behavioral system.
* If one day is overwhelming, we’ll build in a ‘rest’ day for him to recover
* Slowly, with gained agreement, move to sending him half days
*Once we all feel comfortable (in the next few weeks, not anything before he is ready), having him return to full days.

We have seen the goodness of God in the land of the Living, and we are in humble awe.
Thank you all SO MUCH for the prayers you have prayed on Ryan’s behalf. We have felt them like never before in our lives. It's hard not to look at our boy and just cry (which he loves) over the miracle the Lord has performed in his brain.

Baby steps be looking REAL BIG lately.... :)

So much love,
