Journal entry by Chris Harrison —
Today was a special day. Justin’s team played Owatonna this morning in Farmington and Ryan was able to attend the game in-person. (first one since he got home from the hospital). At the game he was able to give the kids fist bumps when they got off the ice, say a quick word to them in the locker room, talk to parents and friends and get lots of hugs. He enjoyed seeing everyone so much. Owatonna is the team they were playing on December 10th when Ryan had his heart attack. Today between the first and second periods of the game, our team recognized Candy, the Owatonna mom that stepped in and gave Ryan CPR outside the ice rink and helped save his life. We were able to thank her over the public address system, give her a standing ovation as well as a gift. Ryan and Candy also got to meet again under much better circumstances. It was a very special moment! It was so nice to thank our guardian angel in-person. To top it off, shortly after the tribute, Justin scored a power play goal and Ryan was able to see it at the rink rather than on TV. It was a very special day.
