RUBY STRONG UPDATE || Ruby entered the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital on Monday September 28, to begin her first chemotherapy treatment. She stayed there 3 nights and got to go home today.

Over the weekend and leading up to her hospitalization today, Ruby was in great spirits and was able to spend time with her entire family. She enjoyed some of her favorite things: pizza, ice cream, a bbq at grandma and grandpa’s, playing board games with her brothers and cousins, getting her hair done by her mom, getting her nails done by her Aunt Maria, and picking out new comfortable clothes for the hospital with her cousins.

Leading up to this week, several things occurred last week:
On Tuesday, Sept. 22, Ruby had at PET Scan. The good news is that we learned the cancer is confined to her arm.
On Wednesday, Sept. 23, Ruby was extremely happy because she had no doctor appointments but was anxious about the next day’s procedure.
On Thursday, Sept. 24, Ruby had her port placement. She said the doctors and nurses were wonderful, but she does not like having a port.

In just the past two weeks, Ruby has experienced so many changes in her life. But she’s one strong and brave girl. At every step, Ruby has shown great strength and determination. We’re all amazed by her.

One of the biggest highlights for Ruby has been all the love and support she’s feeling from the St. Louis Park Softball Association. This support is nothing short of AMAZING! The Streefland family has received numerous donations and gifts for Ruby. She was beyond thrilled when she received a new iPhone from a very generous softball family. She hasn’t put it down! The teams wore yellow ribbons and yellow socks with the #13 on them to support Ruby during their games, organized a butterfly release, and sold cookies and ribbons to show their love and support.

Words cannot express our sincere appreciation to all of you for supporting Ruby and our entire family on this journey. God Bless!
