Newest Update

Journal entry by Roxann Keyes

Hello Marvelous People!   Spring is in the air!!
First off-Thank you so much to all of you for your wonderful support, calls, cards, food, check in’s and everything else! It is very much appreciated! I am blessed to have such a loving, supportive community and partner!!

Here is the medical update: The ONCO DX score, that determines if chemo is recommended and helps determine reoccurrence has come back….drum roll…it was LOW! No chemo recommended and a low chance of reoccurrence. We are certainly celebrating that!!!  My Dexa scan says my bone density is average when compared to everyone and when compared to my age group-above average!  Something else to celebrate!! Love my yoga even more!!
Based on those findings and the information discussed with the medical team, I will not be doing any other treatments. My impression was one of them selling fear of reoccurrence, at the expense of a full life now. I do not live in fear, I refuse too. There is no test that can be administered now to determine if there is any cancer cells in my body. The surgeons said the tumor was removed, with clean margins, lymph was removed with 17 of 20 clear. The Oncologist said, “yes, technically I am cancer free.”  Thats what we are going with! I am cancer free!!! Just as I didn't know it was there until it was there, and I dealt with it, I will deal with whatever happens when it happens, as everything in life.

I am in PT to work on range of motion and lymph redirection. The goal is to get back to work in June.  That is going well! I am walking almost everyday and 2-4 miles, and doing my PT stuff. I have no pain and very little discomfort; the discomfort comes from my build a boob process. (Have to have some humor about it all!) Not sure when there will be another update, the big stuff is complete.

Thank you!! Enjoy the spring warmth and the blooming flowers!~Roxann
