Greetings my friends! I want to fill you in on what I hope is the final chapter of this journey you have gone on with us.
In October my CEA tumor marker was climbing and a special PET scan showed a tumor in the pelvis. In December I had surgery that went faster and easier than expected. After surgery the CEA returned to normal and at the six month mark was even lower. A CT scan was basically normal. So this week I was able to have the port removed! For anyone with cancer, removing the port is a huge milestone! It feels like finishing!
I will still have labs every 3 months for now and another CT in six months. However, I am believing that God is giving me my heart’s desire: to raise my children, to know all my grandchildren, and to grow old with Heidi.
I am planning on this being the final post. I will only post again if something bad happens.
So thank you. Thanks for your thought and prayers, kind words, cards, books, acts of service, and Caring Bridge posts. Sharing this journey with everyone has been one of the most special times in my life. I felt your love and I doubt I could have done it without you! And God has been so close through the hard times. I have no fear of death since I trust God, but I’m glad he has allowed me to live a while longer. Not everyone gets that gift, but nonetheless, He is good and worthy of our saying so!
With Love,
Ross
