Rose’s Story

Site created on May 9, 2018

As many of you may know, a few years ago my mom was diagnosed with anal cancer. She underwent chemo to fight it off. Following the chemo she had surgery done at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. They did a huge radiation blast post surgery to hopefully get rid of all the cancer. It had worked. For a full year my mom was cancer free. In April of 2017 my mom went in for a routine scan to make sure it was still gone. However the scan showed that it was back and had already spread. She tried to do a round of chemo again to give it another fight. However, the chemo was too much for her to take. She decided she’d rather live out the rest of her life not feeling sick from the chemo. She was told she would have a max of 6 months to live. It is now a year later from that appointment. She was able to spend Christmas with all of us. Best of all, she got to see her first and only granddaughter be born.

I’m starting this caringbridge now as my mom is starting the end of her battle. Her liver is starting to show more signs of shutting down. There is no eta of how much time is left. As we already have been doing, we will continue to cherish each day that we still have her with us. I will be doing updates on here to try and have one story out there of what is happening and how she is doing. As of now, we are still welcoming visitors. We just ask to please respect if my mom needs to sleep. Anyone that knows my mom, knows that she will always do her best to stay awake to visit.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me or any of the immediate family.

We thank you all for all the prayers during this time.

Journal entry by Kim Marino

One last journal to say thank you to everyone that came to my moms wake and funeral. I heard so many nice words and great stories about her. She was very loved by everyone and I know she loved everyone just as much. I’m sure I didn’t get a chance to talk to everyone in the past 2 days, but I know myself and my family definitely tried to. Thanks to her co-workers at Park Nicollet for making her work so enjoyable. Thanks to her friends at her condo for always being there. Thanks to all her friends and family also. She will be greatly missed as will her pat on the backs and her great pumpkin bread and pies. ❤️❤️❤️
