Journal

The last week was very busy.

Last Wednesday Dad had a catheter inserted into his lung so we could manually drain the fluid ourselves as needed. We were able to successfully drain the fluid Saturday and Monday providing him with much relief. He is still experiencing some pain from the procedure but that should ease in the next week or two.

We had a consultation with an oncologist at Florida Cancer Specialists Monday this week and they are able to begin treatments Wednesday August 4, tomorrow ❤️

Dad will be undergoing chemotherapy and immunotherapy. 12 treatments of chemo, 3 weeks on, one week off, in 4 cycles with immunotherapy during each cycle.

Scans will occur throughout the treatment process to verify his bodies response to the treatments.

We still do not have the results back on the fluid as promised from Moffitt.

The results from the pet scan show the cancer has not metastasized outside of his lungs. The pleural fluid around his left lung is cancerous, there is a lesion in his upper left lung from the CT scan that they were unable to see in the pet scan due to the fluid. There are at least 3 hot spots located inside his left lung and 2 inside the right lung.

More updates to follow as Dad starts treatments. ❤️
