Hi Everyone!

Ron's first week at home is in the books!  We are figuring out daily routines and roles and are moving forward everyday!  Ron was in the pool the first 3 days home and the time spent in the water was really therapeutic and allowed Ron to work on walking and lifting his legs with little effort. We are spending time on the veranda and Ron is of course relishing his time with Barney- we are going to attempt a trip to the park tomorrow so he can resume his daily "walk" with his buddy.

We have engineered several things to adapt for Ron but he has already out-progressed several of them!  Ron asked his Hartstone business partner Todd Hart to devise railing at the front of the house that is self supporting so we didn't have to permanently anchor into the stone steps.  Todd came thru with flying colors- you can see the picture of Ron proudly standing at the top of our front steps.

Ron started his daily outpatient therapy sessions at Frazier this week- we leave the house at 7 AM and Ron finishes at 11.  Mornings are total chaos getting everyone ready but we are figuring it out!  Ron is expected to continue recovering and he is setting his sights for "normal or pretty d**n close to it".  Still consider ourselves lucky as we interact with the therapy family of patients at Frazier.  To continue his "homework", we have set-up our own occupational therapy room at home.  My fabulous sister Debbie Hodge went out and purchased EVERYTHING (and added some) on Frazier's list.  She placed all activities in separate bags and containers with instructions!  Ron gets up every morning and works on it BEFORE going to Frazier.  See the picture where he is drinking coffee, reading the WSJ and working on his OT tasks!  He told Frazier he has more tools at home then they have😝!  We'll credit Debbie with Ron's fantastic progress with his hand and finger dexterity.  We will never forget the loving compilation of all these fantastic items Debbie!

We had our first post-op check up with Ron's fabulous neurosurgeon Dr. Brian Williams.  Ron (not surprisingly) got a gold star and returns in 6 weeks. Hopefully he will get the green light to remove his neck brace.

That's about it for this first week home.  Thanks for your continued texts, calls, emails and checking in on this site, we are more than appreciative! Love to you all...
