Ron’s Story

Site created on August 18, 2018

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.        On July 1st, Ron went to ER as he was not feeling good, in a lot of pain on his right side and a high fever.  He spent 5 days in the hospital with an infection in his colon.  The doctor's had done a CT Scan and were leaning towards Crohn's Disease.  However, Ron needed to have a colonoscopy to confirm what was going on.

Fast forward 6 weeks, he had the colonoscopy along with several  biopsy's done.  During this time he has felt somewhat better but extremely fatigued.  On  Wednesday August 15th,  we were told that Ron has Colon Cancer.    The good news is  the CT scan done on July 1st does not show that it had spread at that time.  Ron will have surgery on Tuesday to have the cancerous portion of his colon removed along with numerous lymph nodes.  Once they test the lymph nodes, we will then know what the next steps are.  He will be in the hospital for several days and then will get to spend a few weeks at home recovering.

Journal entry by Charity Garner

As most of you know, Ron gained his wings last Thursday morning and his celebration of life is today at the Wabana Hall from 12:00 - 3:30.

Our family can’t thank everyone enough for all of the support along this journey.  Ron fought so incredibly hard for 14 months and as hard as it is going to be to move forward without him; we are thankful he is no longer suffering or in pain.

Much Love,
Charity& Damien
