Journal entry by Donna Gordon —
It is with an abundance of gratitude that we reach out to let you know how much your outpouring of love and support meant to us.
The attendance both at First Christian Church and by Livestream was a testament to the care and friendship Ron and Frances have poured into their communities of family, friendship, work and faith. Some traveled quite a distance to attend and that was greatly appreciated. The touching testaments, humorous stories, gentle and insightful pastor's message, and beautiful music filled the sanctuary and our hearts.
After the service, the busy hands of generous members of the Christian Women's Fellowship provided the service that was essential to feeding so many. Their desserts were a delight to the palate and eye and you could taste how much love was put into their preparation.
The flowers from the Garden Club of Greenville, the arrangement sent by friends from Myrtle Beach and the sweet note and charming bouquet of sunflowers from Frances's goddaughter in France graced the vestibule and provided color and vitality to the entrance and gathering.
We want to thank each and every one of you for your contributions. They made the Celebration of Life and Remembrance a touching and memorable event. The comments, photos, and tributes on the Caringbridge and Thomas McAfee site were valued.
In addition, thank you for your donations to the named charities and all the individual cards and calls received over the last three months.
As time passes and Frances's life takes on a different rhythm and the quiet sets in, please reach out to her. We all know she is capable, independent and proud, but she would welcome the contact.
I know there are interested individuals who have not followed Caringbridge or were inadvertently not included in the email invitation due to the lack of an online address. I encourage you to forward this message of appreciation to all interested parties.
My very best to everyone. It has been my privilege to keep you informed and connected.
Fondly,
Donna
