Roland’s Story

Site created on June 21, 2020

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
Cindy and Roland were having a weekend away for their 10year wedding anniversary along with some of their friends and early Saturday morning Roland had what we think was a severe asthma attack and in the process he then went into cardiac arrest he had to be resuscitated 3 times. He was transported to The University of Iowa Hospital where he is being cared for.
At this time he is under heavy sedation. He is breathing on his own, his vitals are strong, but on his CT scan it shows damage to the lower left side of the brain. So for now he is not conscious due to Sedation. Please keep Cindy and Roland and there entire families in your prayers.

Journal entry by Cynthia Gerodias

Cindy went and stayed most of the day with him yesterday.  She spoke with the neurological team and they confirmed the worst. He has extensive severe damage over 90 percent of his brain. So the part that controls breathing and such still works but he will probably never wake up and know that anyone is around.
Cindy is refusing to give up at this time and will see with a little more time what happens.
