Journal entry by Michele Schramm —
It is with deep sadness that I share with you that Rob passed away early this morning. The past couple of days Keri and Cassie (daughters), best friend Steph and I spent lots of time loving on her. She is at peace now and up there partying with the heavenly host! I am pretty sure she is wearing something colorful and sporting a fun hat and sun glasses, and maybe even some Mardi Gras beads. She was one of a kind!
I came across this poem recently and Rob loved it. It reminds me how much she loved being here with me at the lake, enjoying the peace of wild things.
“The Peace of Wild Things
When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.”
― Wendell Berry, The Selected Poems of Wendell Berry
Rob loved hearing all the sweet words that you shared with her here on the caring bridge.
I thank you, as does Steph, Keri and Cassie.
Blessings,
Michele
