Friends and Family,
This is a post I never in a million years thought I would write.  As some of you may have seen on Facebook, Kayleigh was sick for a few weeks and just not getting better. In fact, she was declining over the weekend. We went to our pediatrician on Monday.  They did blood work in the office and wouldn’t let us leave until the results came back. They sent us directly to Children’s Hospital in Macon. We were met by hematology and started labs immediately.

Kayleigh was diagnosed with Leukemia.

She had a bone marrow biopsy and a lot of blood work today to help determine what type of cancer it is, and how best to treat it.
We will have those results tomorrow, hopefully. We are praying for the cancer type to be the lesser of the two evils; which is easier to treat and has a 98% cure rate. After results are in, a plan will be made over the next few days.

If you know KK, she’s sunshine and sweetness. She’s being a champ about it. I am amazed at how brave she is. And her siblings are taking great care of her and me. The 4 of us are processing this together and appreciate the support at this time.

I cannot understand why this is happening and have really had a hard time. But I still believe in the faithfulness and love of God. Faith is tricky when things seem to turn upside down over and over again. But I’m clinging to His promises. Please join us in praying for the diagnosis to be the treatable kind and for KK with the treatments that will be coming.

Thank you for continuing to walk beside us.
