Journal entry by Robin Zynda

Hello, Sorry this has taken me so long. It's been a busy but good week for me! I am officially in remission!! I started the chemo pills (PARP Inhibitor) on Tuesday; however, they could only start me on a partial dose because of my borderline kidney functioning. The oncology team is a bit worried because I am not fully functional yet in my daily activities, I'm still anemic (even though I eat well now), and my kidney functioning keeps tanking, so I need blood transfusions. The chemo pills will only knock my levels lower. So they started me on 3/4th dosage, and they will do blood work weekly. If things start going further south, they will either lower the dose again, give me another blood transfusion or stop the PARP altogether. The whole purpose of taking the PARP (chemo pills) is to extend my time in remission since ovarian cancer is, unfortunately, a recurring cancer. There was a lot of frightening talk about the side effects of taking the chemo pills ongoing for maintenance, but the side effects of the chemo infusion haven't been a picnic thus far, so I feel I can handle it. My doctor gave me the analogy of ....So far, I have experienced a Jack Daniels level of side effects, and now I will be experiencing a Bud Light level! Why he thought I would understand that analogy, I do not know!! (haha)

So at this point, I feel GREAT and am thankful for every day that I wake up! I need help to keep out of my head and not worry about when this will rear it's ugly head again! Both my kids are getting married in the near future, and I feel so blessed that God has given me the opportunity to be a part of the celebrations!

Thank you all for your ongoing support, love, and encouragement along this journey. It's not over yet, but I feel like I've crossed a major hurdle! I could not have done this without you! Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I feel like you have come into my life at different times for different reasons, but when life became the most challenging (and there have been a few times), you came together to help me get through. Thank you!

Love, Faith, Hope, Happiness
