Robin’s Story

Site created on October 30, 2019

Robin was diagnosed  with stage three, triple negative breast cancer on October 24. She will have approximately 20 weeks of chemotherapy to shrink the cancer, followed by surgery and radiation.  We created this page so that you can follow our updates and know specifically how to pray along the way. Needless to say, she and Annie need our prayers and love as they begin this journey.  Thank you!

Newest Update

Journal entry by Lindsey Whitlatch

My beautiful sister passed away at 8:21 tonight. In typical Robin fashion, she waited until we had all left the room so that she could spare us some sadness. And in not so typical Robin fashion, she was right on time when she left us. She hung on until she could have her time with Annie last night and it was the most beautiful, profound experience. We had planned to have a sleepover with Robin and Annie when Cate got back from Denmark, so last night Annie, Cate and I had a sleepover in Robin’s room at Solace. We painted all the things Robin loved onto rocks, we had a toast (or two) with the Danish liqueur Cate had bought her for Christmas, we stayed up until 4:30 like we would have done at home and we cried and cried and laughed and cried and all said our goodbyes. We took pictures with our matching tattoos we’d drawn and held hands and told her we loved her. I know Robin could hear us because the only words Robin had said in 24 hours, and the last words she’d ever say, were “I love you Annie”. It was heart wrenching but so powerful and it gave us such closure. She also hung on until Ginger could get here today, so my parents and GG and I were the ones with her at the end, just like it should be. Life can be so painful, but it is also amazingly beautiful and we need to all remember to live our lives the way Robin did…with grace and love and patience and forgiveness. Robin, your light will continue to shine in this world and because of what you have taught us, we truly know that “every little thing’s gonna be alright” (your favorite song!) I love you forever ❤️
