On January 7th, our Dad brought Mom into DePaul hospital with severe migraine symptoms that he thought seemed a bit abnormal. As she was being admitted, they quickly discovered a ruptured Intracranial (brain) aneurysm and rushed her into surgery to stop the bleeding. Us three kids flew in as Robin was coming out of surgery to have the family together to see our Mom and support our Dad who's been doing so much.
The surgery went well, and now we're looking down a pretty serious and long recovery process. Robin is still intubated and sedated as she recovers over these critical next few days. We have a talented and caring team of doctors and nurses at the ICU who are taking great care of Robin. Recovery from any serious brain injury is a long and difficult process, but if things go well over the next few days to a week she could be conscious and breathing on her own again.
We've been feeling so loved and supported by all the friends and family who have reached out, made food, called, and given us hugs. At the moment, we're trying to keep our schedules clear and stress low so we're not arranging any visits outside of close friends and family. If you have any questions or just want to offer some love, feel free to reach out to us and we'll answer if we're available.
If you would like to provide even more support, we have set up a Meal Train and are accepting food donations if you feel inclined. If you feel so inclined, more information and the link is under the "Ways to Help" section.
For now, CaringBridge seems to be the best way to keep family and friends updated in one place. We're floored by the amount of love and support everyone has offered so far and are staying optimistic over these coming next few days, weeks, months.
This site is being run by Robin's kids Andrew, Kirby and Parker.
