Robin’s Story

Site created on December 29, 2018

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place.  We appreciate your many prayers and words of encouragement! We are in our Lord's safe-keeping in all of this uncertainty and confess His goodness in all things.

Two years ago, I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and had my thyroid gland and several cancerous lymph nodes in my neck removed. The radiation therapy I had post-surgery was expected to get rid of any remaining cancer left after surgery. However, the tumor marker numbers never went down to zero, and over the last two years they continued to increase to the point where, finally, two weeks ago, a PET scan showed three spots on in my liver where (via my lymph system) the thyroid cancer had migrated.

Romans 8:28, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”

We are in Houston this week for Robin’s regular tests and scans to assess the growth of her cancer. This morning we received the good news that the cancer is stable to the point she can remain off chemo (she has been off since February) for now. The procedure she had last August was effective in lowering her numbers significantly. The efforts of the doctors here at MD Anderson have been successful. Of course, we know this is all a part of God’s plan, and bad news would have been so too.

This is a tremendous blessing for us. We are  humbled by God’s way in this. God is good in all things. That’s so much easier and tearless to say when you hear good news.

We pray that you will rejoice with us even as we see others, loved ones, for whom God’s way was/is a more difficult path to walk with this disease. We weep with those who are sick or who have lost or are losing loved ones to cancer. We struggle to understand why, but we trust, and our prayer is that God will give peace and confidence that all things work for good to them who belong to Him.

Thank you all for your well wishes and most of all your prayers!

Love,
Tim & Robin
