Sign In to Show Your SupportI know, seems like I’m posting a lot when I said I wasn’t going to but this is a milestone that deserves a post in my journal because today is Sandi’s “cancerversary!”
TEN years ago my sister was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic melanoma. She’s one of the small percentage of people where melanoma starts under the skin and Sandi’s presented itself as a large tumor in her neck that grew rapidly, wrapping around the carotid artery. After surgery at Georgetown University hospital to remove the tumor she started the journey of radiation, scans (which revealed the cancer had spread to her lungs, liver, spleen, hip) and finally a clinical trial through University of Virginia. Sandi was not expected to live a year but 10 years later here she is living her life, happy and grateful. She is a living, breathing, walking miracle, a true answer to prayer. So…we’re celebrating 10 years and trusting the Lord for the years to come!
