Journal entry by Lana Kleimon —
It's been a little over a year ago when Rob's annual routine endoscopy created his journey with cancer. Yesterday, his every two-month oncology check-up confirmed that he is a "medical anomaly" and the topic of discussion for Atlanta's cancer specialist as he continues to experience no symptoms of a typically aggressive, painful cancer. His only complaint is his balance, so home-health physical therapy has been ordered. Meanwhile, his oncologist suggested that he live life as he'd like, so we're flying to Phoenix next week to visit Rich and Rachelle in their newly constructed home. Rob commented to his doctor that he was embarrassed because he had said a final farewell to family and friends. After she laughed until she snorted, she assured him that this should not be a concern. As we left the appointment, I was absolutely giddy and would have skipped to the car if my behavior would not have caused Rob major embarrassment. We realize that this journey could take a sharp u-turn, but while we're sailing smoothly, we'll take advantage of every opportunity to live life to the fullest. We thank you for all the support as we remain humbled by all of the wonderful random acts of kindness given to us during this journey.
