Robert John Cook was born on August 4th, 1967 in Spencer, Iowa, and he entered into God's Glory on August 29th, 2021.

Robert was Grandma's boy from the beginning and he loved spending his summers with her on the farm and at the family cabin in Wisconsin. They spent time counting and recording her wild quarter horses together and riding bulls at the family rodeo. His first car buying experience was with his Grandma at the local auction. Robert was just 15 and felt so proud of the deal he helped her get that night. He was always an entrepreneur at heart and even figured out how to make money selling rocks in the second grade. "Not being able to work" was motivation for him to keep his grades up. At age 10, Robert had his own lawn mowing company that he funded with savings from other odd jobs, and in the winter, he and his best friend Rick worked shoveling snow together. Though they became separated by over 1200 miles, Robert and Rick remained friends throughout Robert's life. At age 16, he moved to Corpus Christi where he finished high school. His first job there was at HEB in the Garden Center and from there he went to work opening stores for Footlocker, which took him to South Carolina. He made his way back to Texas as fast as he could though and soon landed a job in the car business, which quickly turned into a successful management career. Robert had the honor of coaching hundreds of young sales professionals who came up behind him and that was a great source of joy and fulfillment for Robert. Many lives were deeply enriched because Robert lived.

Robert's wife believed he hung the moon and that every day with him was an adventure. He had two incredible children, Jonathan Leon and Talyn Layne. Jonathan is the older brother whom Robert was so proud of in every way. He enjoyed cheering him on as he played sports growing up and he was inspired by the man he is today. They loved watching football and cooking steaks together by the pool. Talyn, coming along much later brought new excitement into Robert's life and he was astonished at how amazingly talented she is at everything she puts her hands to. His children were the light of his life.

Robert is survived by his wife Julie, his son Jonathan, his daughter Talyn, his stepson Ryan, his mother Diana, his father John, his stepmother Evonne, as well as his sister, Julie, stepsister, Michelle, and stepbrothers Greg and Jess. He was preceded in death by his grandfather Vincent John Cook Sr, his grandmother Julaine Marie Cook, his grandfather Dr. Leon Heike, his grandmother Marian Heike, and his aunt Ellen Beth Mathis.

Robert was loved by many and will be deeply missed.
A Celebration of Robert's life is scheduled for Saturday, September 4th, 2021 at 10:00 am.
