Journal entry by Kim Brunstein

Folks,

As you know, Bob is home!  He continues therapy as an outpatient as well as the natural therapy of being at home. He walks the circle outside his house often with his cane behind his back to build his posture—he says ;)  He continues to have some trouble with low iron and just recently had another iron infusion. His wonderful neighbor has loaned him a S-L-O-W moving Cushman golf cart that has wide stability. Bob enjoys taking a slow drive between barns with his trusted posse of dogs.

The fact that Bob survived his accident and has made such amazing progress since those touch and go nights in ICU is what we might call miraculous. Let us never forget the power of prayer and the strength in unity just as we all have united to support Bob and his family over the past months. His journey is not over. He has improved by leaps and bounds in many ways but still needs our prayers as the fine tuning takes place.

A wonderful friend to Lorraine and family, Pam Perkins, also known as Chief of Grounds Care at the Barn while Lorraine was away, has organized a...

Dine to Donate at Texas Roadhouse in Edwardsville this Thursday, August 1 from 3:45-10 pm. Come on out and enjoy a steak and be sure to tell them you are there to support Bob so he gets credit for your purchase. I will attach the flyer as a picture here. You can click to show your server that night.  The family will be there around supper time. While Bob has some energy for short outings, I don’t know that he will be there as I don’t think he is up to the noise level and hustle and bustle. We’ll takes pictures to share with him.

If you want to order a Bob’s Battle Ride t-shirt, we will take orders and payment that night. Then I will put in one more big order and let everyone know when they arrive. I still have a few to be picked up. So if you didn’t come to get yours from the Roma’s order event, I will be calling you again soon :)

I have attached a picture of Bob that will make you smile. Bob got a little embarrassed when Lorraine shared it with me as I, of course, giggled. But I assured him my giggling was giggling with him and most certainly not at him. He doesn’t remember the days and nights of being hooked to all kinds of medicine, leads, etc. He really can’t fathom what his mind/body and his family endured. And maybe that’s good. But I told him we are beyond thrilled to have the opportunity to  see him walking, talking and even being a little silly.

Hope to see you Thursday at Texas Roadhouse!

O Lord our God, who supplies us with countless blessings, lift up our hearts in gratitude and thanksgiving. Help us to remember the gifts we seldom notice, the abundance we take for granted, the rich possibilities you provide.

For our daily bread, for water that is pure, for houses to live in and friends to enjoy, we give you humble thanks.

For beauty and fruitfulness, for healing and hope, for the comfort of your presence, we lift our voices in joyful praise now and always.

Amen.

St. Andrew Avellino and St. Raphael the Archangel, we ask your intercessions upon Bob.  Please pray that he continues to heal quickly...his ailments, his movements, his speech and that the doctors and therapists continue to give him the best medical care he can receive.  We turn to you as his journey continues...
