For anyone who has dealt with a loved one getting a bone marrow transplant, you can appreciate that the patient has gone through a lot to get to this point.  You all know Rob is an amazing, smart, funny, talented and Godly person.   We appreciate all of your support for this phase of his journey and battle with cancer.

Rob was first diagnosed with non-hodgkins B-cell follicular cancer in 1996.   Through the years, he has undergone a variety of chemo's (IV and oral) and even a few rounds of radiation.   For several years, he was free without cancer.   In 2017, the cancer resurfaced and Rob went through a number of different treatments.  In 2018, things were a bit more stubborn with new manifestations including night sweats, fevers, etc.  Through this we discovered cancer patients are more susceptible to blood clots so Rob has also been hospitalized for 2 DVTs and 1 pulmonary embolism. After a number of different atempts to deal with the cancer, a doctor in Wilmington biopsied the tumors on his head and it showed that Rob's cancer had transformed and he had a double hit cancer... the B-cell non-hodgkins follicular cancer as well as diffuse large  B-cell.   Diffuse Large B-cell  is a more aggressive cancer and more mobile  Rob was transferred right away to Duke Hospital in Durham.   He has gone through 3 rounds of RICE chemo in the hospital and will start his 4th round of RICE treatment the week of May29, 2020.   He will then enter the phase for stem cell transplant.

It is now March 2023 and Rob has been diagnosed with a new blood cancer... T-MDS.   As a result, he will be doing chemo and will be part of a clinical trial at MD Anderson in Houston Tx.   Rob will now need a donor based bone marrow transplant.   We will be relocating temporarily to Houston, Tx for this process which can take 4 months.

We will be entering this next phase and using this website to keep you updated on his journey.

Our God is Mighty and we stand in His Presence to watch Him get Rob through this.

Praises on Rob's report today.  I wish I could have been there but Rob called me just elated after his doctor's visit.   His encologist said Rob is a superhero and doing amazing so they are pulling him off the Immunosuppressant drug he has been on.   I could hear his joy as he called to tell me.    He is scheduled for his baby shots in a few weeks.

I want to give thanks to God for his mighty hand and presence ... Phil 1:6. "And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns."

None of us know the number of our days on earth but we rejoice in every day that we have.   Rob is not letting a day go by without a renewed focus.

Thank you for your prayers... they have carried us.
