Journal entry by Jessica Johnson

Rick continues to progress in Cardiac Rehab and his cardiothoracic surgery team gave him clearance to start incorporating his upper body into workouts. This means his sternum is healing as expected, which is good news. He is still on a 10# weight restriction, but he can start driving again if he wants to. It's been a little over a month since his CABG and the frequency of follow-up appointments are decreasing, so we're all enjoying the lull in activities. Rick and Andrew spent a good chunk of the day outside tinkering around in the garage yesterday, enjoying the beautiful weather. Check out the gallery for pics of the hardware he has holding his sternum together! 3-4 months post-op, he will have another echocardiogram to measure his ejection fraction and see if there's been any improvements.
