Journal entry by Kim Littrell

Rick passed peacefully in his sleep at 6:20am this morning. Janice, Kyle, and his sister, Carol, were there with him. We believe he waited for Kyle’s Birthday to pass yesterday before leaving us💔

Rick was an amazing father, husband, brother, and friend. He was certainly a wonderful father-in-law and Poppy. We couldn’t have asked for a better one.

He will be missed beyond measure and will be thought of in every moment of every day - be it during a laugh, a glass of bourbon, a Pats game, a party, while enjoying a seafood dinner, or a slice of cherry pie. He will be thought of in the celebrations, because he knew how to celebrate with the best of them, and he will be thought of during the hard times too, because he was always there when you needed a pep talk, advice, or a good kick in the butt. He will be thought about during the good times, and bad times, and all times in between.

We are heartbroken Rick was taken from us so soon, but relieved he is out of pain and at peace. We imagine Kody was there to welcome him home and there will no doubt be the biggest party Heaven has ever seen in his honor.

They say the best way to honor a loved one that has passed is to take on the traits you admired most about them. Let us aspire to be more like Rick, to delight in life, in adventure, and fun, and the beauty all around us. Let us embrace our child-like sense of wonder and curiosity. Let us work hard, play hard, and love hard. And let us hope we can live a life half as colorful and full as Rick did.

We love you all.
