Journal entry by Janelle Carlson —
The decision: Rick's surgeon meet with us about the plastic catheter/tube in his chest. His suggestion is to leave it alone. His reasons were:
1. It looks like a threading cap from when the pacemaker was put in (the pacemaker was removed with the old heart).
2. It is probably imbedded in scar tissue
3. It is by a major artery
4. It is also under the collar bone
5. As long as it isn't bothering Rick he suggested Rick leave it.
If it does raise to the surface of the skin, like a pimple then yes it should be removed, he gave Rick his business card with the direct line to his office.
So at the moment Rick is part plastic, granted a very small part 😉
Janet got out of rehab on April 10th She is home with Home Care for about four weeks. More exercises. The most important exercise at this point is waking!
Thank you for the many Get Well and Birthday cards. I put the happy colorful cards on two very dreary shelves next to and above the TV. They were like so many smiling faces shining down at me
Then you for the many prayers,
God Bless you all!
