Journal

Oh my! Its been a while! I didn’t realize how long it had been since I posted anything! Well, being that we are just 2 days from the 1 year anniversary of Richard’s surgery, I think its appropriate to do an update.

Richard had his most recent Rochester visit on February 1st. It went very well! He is about 6 weeks out from his final round of Chemo, which he finished just a couple of days before Christmas. We had a little difficulty with getting approval from our insurance on this last round, which delayed the drugs being shipped to us by a couple of weeks, but everything worked itself out.

Richard has described his recovery from the 5 days of chemo as kind of a roller coaster. He feels okay during the chemo, but by the end of the 5 days, he’s feeling pretty blah, not a lot of energy, and not very hungry, although he does a great job of making himself eat. A few days after the chemo, he feels pretty tired and worn out, and after about a week, he starts to feel pretty good. By the time comes for another round, he’s feeling pretty good, and then it starts all over. He still struggles with finding words and can lose words he had just a moment before, especially during chemo, and in the days right after. It also presents itself when he’s tired, so into the evenings; it always seems worse to me, but I mostly just see him in the evenings, since we are both working.

Anyway, back to the appointment! His MRI looks really good, the brain is an amazing organ! The doctor we met with said that his prognosis is good, too. He wants Richard back in about 3 months for another MRI & appointment, we’ll be doing those appointments about every 3 months for the foreseeable future. It is projected be at least 5 years before we can move to appointments every 6 months, then eventually annually.

Thank you so much for your continued prayers and support! We truly appreciate everything you all have done for us. We love you all!

Teri & Richard
