Journal

Happy Saturday, friends. I haven't had any updates from my double mastectomy from January 2021 until yesterday. I finally had phase 2 of my reconstruction. The surgery was originally scheduled for August 6, but my doctor got Covid, and we had to reschedule.

The expanders were removed and implants were inserted. Dr. Cohn also used some of my fat tissue for reconstruction. I have some bruising at that location, which is to be expected. I feel sore but nothing like I did after the mastectomy.

A friend took me to surgery, stayed at the hospital with me and at home until bedtime. Anita took good care of me. She helped me get my post-op meds organized, brought me a bake-at-home pizza for dinner and prepared it for me. A picture of me and Anita is posted above. Ahhh, what luxury.

I have a lot of good things going on in my life right now - learning a new position at work, recovering from this surgery, dental implant surgery scheduled later this year and traveling to my son's destination wedding in November.

I would never have scheduled these issues at this time, but I trust that God knows what is best for me. The tooth had been an issue for a long time, but my son's wedding is out of town. I didn't want to have an emergency dental issue at my son's wedding. So I had it extracted in March hoping for completion sooner. I'm still waiting for a go from my oral surgeon. I've also been applying for other positions at Regions this year. I've been in my previous position for over three years and needed a change. Finally got a new position Oct. 4.

I was concerned about taking time off for surgery while in "training" for my new position. I had a WFH position previously, but this one requires that I go to the office. The supervisors have been very supportive. My doc says I should be able to return to work next week.

So far God has provided for all of my needs. I have faith that He will continue to do so.
