Newest Update

Journal entry by Kimberly Freudigman

Hi everyone! This is Rebecca -- It's been a little over 3 weeks since I had the brain tumor removed. Last week I had my stitches removed, ditched my walker, and started being able to walk Arnie on short jaunts in the neighborhood. I am even allowed to drive short distances a few times a week. Praise God - I have been blessed!

I promise to post a pic soon! We are celebrating Kimmie and Paulie's birthdays this weekend so I think there will be plenty of opportunity.

I want to say THANK YOU THANK YOU for all your love, messages, support, and prayers! It means so much to me, my recovery, and my family. We feel so loved! I will confess that I am just starting to get on my computer and my plan is to read caring bridge messages next week.  I still rest / nap everyday as everyone (Dr. Mickey included) is worried I will overdo it.

The pathology on the tumor came back as a Type 1 Meningioma (which means it's benign). There is a 15% chance of recurrence in 5 years - so for now I will have MRI's regularly to check for the tumor and to make sure the swelling in my brain is continuing to improve.

I am reading, painting, journaling, and resting. I am only now beginning to process the seriousness of my surgery. Thank goodness I had health and energy on my side. I look forward to jumping in the pool next month and hopefully getting to play golf in the not too distant future.

Sending Light and Love and many thanks to you all! I will update you soon. Big hugs!

(and I now know why my parents gave me the middle name of Hope!)
